An amputation in the hand is an unfortunate life event not only because of the functional disability it causes but also because of its disfiguring consequences. A major concern amongst patients treated for mutilating injuries in the hand is one of poor appearance. Finding a life-like prosthesis is an option to address this patient's concern after all possible reconstructive measures have been explored. The near normal appearance that can be achieved with a life-like custom-fabricated prosthesis can restore body image while enhancing psychosocial-well being. This encourages patients to actively use their hand.
There are various types of prostheses that can be made to fit the different levels of amputation.

All prospective patients can attend a pre-fitting session at our clinic. This session aims to assess the suitability for fitting, with regards to the condition and the patient's own expectations.
